Cooking Class: Day 1

Momos: Steamed, Fried and Chocolate

I signed up for a three day cooking class with Rita. The first day we were to learn how to make momos, Tibetan dumplings. 

For vegetable steamed and fried momos you will need:

Garlic, ginger, green beans, grated carrots, onions, grated cabbage and green bell peppers

Start by heating some oil and adding the onions. Saute until they are golden brown and then  add the rest of the prepared vegetables. While the vegetables are frying, add some soy sauce, salt, Kitchen King Masala (a mixture of spices) and white vinegar. 










For the dough, you will need:
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoon oil
1 1/2 glass of water
700 grams of white flour

Knead until ready to be rolled and cut out into circles. 







Once the vegetables are finished cooking, fill the doughy circles with the mixture and pinch closed in little dumplings as seen below:
















(Steam for 25 minutes )



Or in cresent moons:







( Fry in oil )

For the chutney, you will need :
garlic
coriander
mint
green chili onion
ginger
2 tomatoes
1 teasoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garam masala



Chocolate momos use the same dough and are filled with grated chocolate. Steam and enjoy!
